Happy Monday and also happy Labor Day. Today is a national holiday here in America, which means many people are off work and celebrating the last day of summer by spending it with family, grilling out, and basically relaxing.
Over the weekend, Tadej Pogacar, who crashed out of the Vuelta a Espana last week, renewed his very lucrative contract with UAE Emirates XRG until 2032, with the claim he has many more things he wants to accomplish. If he makes it until that year, he will be 33 years old, which by professional cycling standards is fairly old.
Meanwhile, Enric Mas from the Movistar team, who took over the red jersey of the GC leader after Pogacar’s unfortunate crash, is still in the lead by two minutes as the riders go into the last week of the race. It’s hard to say if you will keep it until the end as pro cycling is often unpredictable.
I hope you all are enjoying your Labor Day weekend and, if you are lucky, enjoying your day away from work to also celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Lots of good days with plentiful rides ahead before winter pushes us all inside for months of trainer rides, so get out there and fit in some cycling.
