Hello, Everyone:
I begin this update with some tragic news. Finlay Tarling, a rider for the NSN Development Team, was killed by a motorist during the Volta a Portugal when it entered the race course. Tarling was only 19. But this incident further illustrates how cyclists, even those who are racing on a closed course to vehicle traffic, are not safe on the road.
Later this week on Saturday, the Vuelta a España gets underway in Monaco. The race is 21 stages, and the riders will conquer 3,275 kilometers (2,034 miles) before the race ends in Granada. This is the last grand tour of the season. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a palmar that many cyclists heavily pursue.
Tadej Pogacar will be in the mix, and he hopes to claim the Vuelta, which would mean he would be the winner of every grand tour, a series Jonas Vingegaard completed in the spring with his win of the Giro d’Italia.
Have you always wanted to ride in Spain and, perhaps, even ride some of the roads used in the Vuelta? That is certainly possible if you sign up for a trip with Eat Sleep Cycle. If you want to find out more about the company and the types of trips it offers, check out my recent blog post.
With that, I will leave you with the hope for a productive week mixed in with some riding of your own.
