Monday Update: The Grand Tours are Over But Lots of Racing Still to Come; Fall is Here and the End of September is Coming.

Hello, everyone!

Welcome to the start of another week! And, believe it or not, this is the last full week of September and it will soon be October. This year seems to have flown by, and summer has blown blast past us just as fast.

But fear not, because even though the grand tours are over for the season, there are still a lot of races coming up before the season ends in November. First up is the UCI Road World Championships (20th – 27th of September) in Montreal, which consists of individual time trials and road races for both men and women, including under-23 events.

Other events on the UCI calendar are more one-day races like we see in the spring, such as Il Lombardia (Giro di Lombardia), which is also considered the last race on the World Tour calendar but one of the most prestigious monuments in cycling, even more than Paris-Roubaix, which takes place in the spring. Then there is the Paris Tours, which is also a one-day race that covers 216 kilometers (134 miles). Many pro teams participate in this event.

And finally, yes, it does feel like fall today, and temperatures will be in the 60s all week. But this time of year is a perfect mix of warm days (when it’s not raining) and cool nights for sleeping. Until daylight saving time kicks in, there’s still time to get in some good rides and continue to wear your summer kit with maybe a base layer, arm warmers, and leg warmers. If you’re on the road, just make sure you have both a front and rear light. You should be running these anyway.

Have a brilliant, productive week and see you out on the road!
