Hello Everyone:
Time for the weekly Monday update here on the bicycle travel blog.
It turns out this is the last full week of June, and while the warmer weather and longer days are welcome guests, the first month of summer is almost over, and that is always a bit of a bummer. And yesterday was the Summer Solstice, which marks the longest day of the year and the shortest night.
Over the weekend, Tadej Pogačar claimed another victory to add to his growing list of palmares at the Tour de Suisse. It is the last major pro stage race before the Tour de France starts on July 4th in Barcelona. However, the National Road Championships also started over the weekend, which is comparable to the All-Star Game in baseball here in America, where riders from the pro peloton ride wearing their own country’s jersey.
Lastly, it just seems that being online anymore is like walking through the park at night naked. There are prying eyes everywhere: identity theft, fake bikes that fall apart, subpar gear, etc. Cycling is being inundated with scams. Be careful who you deal with online. Use two-party authentication, change your password if you haven’t done that in a while on sites you use or purchase from, and lastly, protect yourself with a VPN. You don’t want to end up like the man in this story over at Escape Collective, who found out that someone had stolen his identity and opened a bike shop in Melbourne, Australia.
Have a good week ahead and keep cycling!
