Monday Update: An American Wins the World Championship Road Race for the first time since 1993; Demi Vollering Battles to The Line to Take the Rainbow Jersey; Summer Returns (Briefly)

Hello, Everyone:

Welcome to the last Monday in September.

This past weekend, the World Championships came to a close in a dramatic fashion. Brandon McNulty came across the line to win the rainbow jersey in an unexpected victory for Team USA. He was the first American to win the jersey since 1993, when Lance Armstrong won it.

For the women’s road race, Demi Vollering, in a more expected victory, battled Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney to the line for the win. The U23 road race also saw a victory for Team USA with Ashlin Barry.

Meanwhile, summer has returned with warm days and cool nights. It may be the last week of truly summer-like weather, so if you can, get out for a ride or two.
