Second Week of the Giro d’Italia and Cycling in Melbourne, Australia

Hello, Everyone:

Welcome to another week in May and the second week of the Giro d’Italia. despite some big crashes early in the race, Jonas Vingegaard took his third win and a solo victory in Stage 9. This was Vingegaard’s 50th career victory. Today, May 18th, is a rest day, which is to be followed by an individual time trial tomorrow.

As reported here last week, I’m currently traveling in Australia this week, specifically Sydney and Melbourne, where bicycle lanes appear throughout every part of the city, very much like Portland, Oregon. There are a lot of commuters in addition to the hardcore riders.

I also learned that Melbourne has some of the best potable water in the world due to its filtration system. It’s no wonder, then, that the city has consistently been rated as one of the best places in the world to live.

With that, I wish you all a good and productive week ahead and keep on cycling!
