Last Full Week of April, Amstel Gold, Liege Bastogne Liege Challenge in the Netherlands

Hello, Everyone:

Believe it or not, we are looking at the last full week of April. Last week, the weather was unseasonably warm with temperatures in the 80s. But yesterday and today, winter came back for one last short visit. Spring weather can have some crazy extremes, from very cold to very warm, with some rain and even snow flurries mixed in.

This past weekend saw the Amstel Gold Race, yet another spring classic, take place. However, it is not considered a monument because it is not as old as the main five races on the spring calendar, as it began in the mid 1960s. Remco Evenpoel won the men’s race and Paula Blasi from Spain won the women’s version.

The spring classics come to a close this coming weekend in the Netherlands with Liege-Bastogne-Liege. The race is 256 kilometers (160 miles) with 4,100 meters of climbing. It will be the 112th edition of the race. So, to celebrate the last of the spring classics, view some pictures of the Netherlands below, and watch out for a post later this week about the Liege Bastogne Liege Challenge that occurs on Saturday before the race on Sunday. Enjoy! And I wish you all a brilliant, productive week.
