Over the five years I lived in northern California, I encountered so many excellent places to do a road ride. And the great thing was I didn’t have to go too far to find one.

The road in the picture is typical of the scenery you might see on a ride. And that might be a half-hour or hour ride out from where I lived in Santa Clara. If I went a little further afield, I could be in Santa Cruz and ride highway 1 from there to Half Moon Bay.

So, if you are thinking about a trip to California this spring or summer, make sure you have your bike with you. Good roads, some hard climbs, and epic scenery await. Enjoy it!!
