This is the last weekend before the end of the La Vuelta Espana with the race ending in Madrid on Sunday. So far, the race has been filled with lots of crashes and lots of drama.

Currently, Remco Evenepoel from the Quick Step Alpha Vinyl team is in the lead. But there are three stages left so a lot can happen in the final days.

When La Vuelta ends on Sunday, the major European pro stage races for the season will be over. For some riders, that might mean their season is over until their first training camp for the 2023 season. For other riders, they may choose to continue their season with some of the remaining races on the UCI calendar.

While there are a few one and two-day stage races left, many riders gravitate toward the Road World Championship and the coveted rainbow jersey. This year the race takes place in Wollongong, Australia from the 18th-25th of September. I’ll talk about that race next Friday.

I hope all my readers had a lovely and fun-filled summer full of great activities and lots of cycling. And I hope your Labor Day weekend was restorative enough to help you get through the last four months of the year.

But there are still some warm, sunny days ahead, so get out and ride or do a weekend cycling trip somewhere if you can. Until next week, stay safe and have a good weekend.
