Have you ever done a bike tour where you ride in close proximity to an active volcanic region? There aren’t many places in the United States where you can get close to such a place on your bike. But Adventure Cycling offers participants the chance to do just that with its 7 day, inn-to-inn tour that takes you through Crater Lake National Park as you travel through the Cascade Mountain region.
About The Crater Lake National Park Region

The park is located in south-central Oregon and was formed over 7,700 years ago. It is considered the deepest lake in the United States at a depth of 1,949 feet.
For the many tourists who visit the park, the lake is the centerpiece because of the views and its blue water. The lake plays host to two small islands called Wizard Island and Phantom Ship.
About Adventure Cycling’S Crater Lake National Park Trip

The trip is 7 days long and is a loop that rides along the TransAmerica Bicycle Trail, eventually connecting with the Sierra Cascades Bicycle Route. The trip covers the Cascade Range of Oregon with Crater Lake National Park as a featured stop. Of note, these two routes were designed and are maintained by Adventure Cycling.
Adventure Cycling trips are usually geared toward the type of cyclist who enjoys camping out while moving along a route. What makes this trip unique to the organization is that each day starts and ends at an inn (hotel or mountain lodge) along the route.
Cost and Rider Requirements for Crater Lake National Park Trip

What makes Adventure Cycling trips different from those of other bicycle travel companies is that cyclists must carry their own gear, as there is no vehicle support. Additionally, cyclists should feel comfortable and capable of supporting their bikes, as far as repairs, if the situation calls for it.
Cost for this trip is $4,299, which includes the following.
- A shuttle from the airport to the starting point for the trip and back to the airport at the end
- Accommodations at the hotels and mountain lodges along the way
- Ride challenging but paved roads each day
- All meals
- A guide that knows the area.
- Adventure Cycling classifies this trip as Level 4 or easy riding, but they do say this ride is for the cyclist who typically rides 45 to 60 miles per day and is use to riding rolling and mountainous terrain, as there is 6,000 feet of total elevation.
