It’s hard to believe but today is the last Friday and work day (for most) of 2023. This year has been a challenging year in many ways. Two major wars raging causing political unrest in this country, one of which just started in October between Israel and Hamas, the rise of AI and the challenges that has posed for both good and bad, and a host of other weird things.
New Tech and New Pro Champions
But I’m still here and the beautiful sport of cycling goes on (and will continue in 2024). I like how technology like 3D printing is influencing the sport and making things for cyclists more personal, such as in helmets (KAV), saddles, and its influence and use in other gear.
I was also happy to see a new generation of young cycling champions in the pro peloton rise to the fore with riders like Sepp Kuss who won the Vuelta Espana, Jonas Vingegard who won the Tour de France, and Primož Roglič who won the Giro d’Italia. These young cyclists give me hope that the sport of cycling will continue to evolve in a positive way and bring in new fans.
Thank You for Your Support in 2023
Today is an abbreviated post just to thank all of you who have visited my blog this year, liked and commented on my content, and most importantly, subscribed. With 2024 right around the corner, I plan to continue along with the blog and to keep writing good cycling content related to travel and other topics.
Please, if you have anything you’d like me to add in terms of content or an area you’d like to see me explore more of here on the blog, please let me know in the comments of this post. Although I’ve been writing this blog for a number of years now, I would be remiss (and quite arrogant) if I said there isn’t more to learn.
If you feel any improvements can be made, please also let me know about it. I’m writing this blog for you, the true cycling enthusiast much like myself.
Subscribe to My Newsletter & Happy New Year!

One last thing before I leave you to spend more time with family and friends. A few months ago, I started The Ride Out and Back Newsletter over on Substack. Check it out and read some of my posts there. These posts are a bit more personal than the things I write here on the blog, but they are still primarily about cycling.
If you like what you read, please think about subscribing. For 2024, I hope to finally launch my podcast, which got waylaid earlier this year due to a family health crisis. Once the first episode is complete and available, I’ll let you know the link and, hopefully, you will engage with me that way as well.
Until next week, Happy New Year, everyone!!! Here’s to a brilliant, peaceful, and productive 2024.
