When it comes to cycling apparel (bib shorts, jersey, gloves, socks, etc.), one of the biggest expenditures we encounter as cyclists is a pair of cycling shoes. Of course, there are those who ride in tennis shoes or street shoes or even sandals. However, if you want to achieve power, speed, and efficient pedaling, cycling shoes are an essential item to own.
The problem is that the marketplace is flooded with choices, and those choices can be very expensive. I had a pair of Fizik road shoes that I had for over 10 years and they were great, but they cost close to $400. Now, with so many independent cycling retailers on the internet, it’s a lot easier to find quality cycling gear at more affordable prices. So, when I was seeking a new pair of cycling shoes, I opted for Cycling Frelsi’s Pro Carbon Team Road Shoes.
Who Is Cycling Frelsi?

The company is owned and operated by Jeff Fuller, CEO of Cycling Frelsi. The company was started in 2017 with the goal of offering cyclists quality apparel at affordable prices that, basically, put the major brands to shame.
According to Fuller, Cycling Frelsi’s main motivation is to, “…directly source[e] our products from the manufacturers to get unbeatable prices with the highest quality.” That desire stems from when he was a young man getting into the sport of cycling and riding with friends.
However, he found that, while it was fun to look at the latest products from all the major brands at his local bike shop, he couldn’t afford any of them. He felt cyclists shouldn’t be penalized with high prices to participate in a sport they love.
While this isn’t an easy thing to make happen, Fuller states, “My team and I braved every rejection, poured all our time, effort, and resources to make sure that we can bring the product closer to you.”
The Pro Carbon Team Road Shoes Review

While I’ve owned cycling shoes from Sidi, Lake, Shimano, and Fizik, Cycling Frelsi’s Pro Carbon Team Road Shoes match those brands seamlessly. These shoes are full carbon and weigh in at 239 grams in a size 42.
I will say these shoes are stiff, light, and fast. You can really feel how each pedal stroke delivers power and speed as you move down the road. Plus, while many cycling shoes tend to make your feet sweat, cause numbness, or allow hot spots to develop, these shoes keep your feet cool so you can put in big miles without pain.
Cycling Frelsi’s Pro Carbon Team shoes really are like a pair of lightweight cycling slippers due to generous venting in the body (on the top and sides) and sole (at the front and back) of the shoe. They also feature a tapered heel cup with no slippage at all. While the fit is tight, it’s not uncomfortable. The dual Atop BOA-like adjuster allows for a cyclist to dial in their comfort level, even while riding.
If you use Shimano, Look, or other pedals that have a cleat that requires the three-hole bolt pattern, again, these shoes are fully compatible. Additionally, the shoes have a replaceable, non-slip heel pad. The current price for these shoes is $189.00. You’ll be hard-pressed to find quality cycling shoes at this price anywhere online, at a local bike shop, or sporting goods store.
Last Thoughts

Cycling Frelsi’s Pro Carbon Team Shoes are excellent road shoes. To me, they match the shoes offered by bigger-name brands. Obviously, a lot of cycling shoes are made of leather or manmade materials.
As for these shoes, I was unable to find a specific statement on the company’s website about the materials used in these shoes or where these shoes were manufactured. Many of the big-name brands make their cycling apparel in-house, or they outsource it to places like China. But for me, those aren’t dealbreakers when you can have a high-performing, high-quality road shoe at a very fair price.
