Experience Cultural, Culinary, and Historical Highlights with Cycling Croatia

While it probably is not considered an iconic nor top tier destination in Europe, Croatia is an excellent playground for hiking, ocean sports, and cycling. That’s in addition to its unique cultural, culinary, and historical sites. If you have a penchant for exploring the country by bicycle and seeing other areas than Dubrovnik, Cycling Croatia seems like a good company with which to book travel.

Who is Cycling Croatia?

The company was founded in 2011 by Kruno and Petra Herceg. Kruno had a background in marketing and Petra was an avid runner and bicyclist. They started Cycling Croatia as a way to offer experiences of Croatia to guests while doing what they loved: cycling.

According to its website, Cycling Croatia prides itself on a new approach to experiencing the cultural, culinary, and historical areas of Croatia. They say, “Our cycling tours will take you to the most hidden, breathtaking places, allowing you to experience all that makes Croatia one of the most beautiful countries in the world.”

Trips Offered By Cycling Croatia

Cycling Croatia appears to be a small company with six total employees, which includes the founders. Because of this fact, the company’s trip offerings are pretty lean. They only have three trips, two in Croatia and one that visits Slovenia and Italy.

That said, Cycling Croatia’s goal is to give its guests a unique experience that other travel companies don’t touch on or never explore and they are quite ambitious. For one of its primary tours simply called Dalmatia Cycling Tour, the company takes guests to the coast of Dalmatia (a region of Croatia) and explores nearby islands.

The trip is 6 days and 5 nights with 17 -31 miles of cycling each day. The activity level is considered recreational and active for those who ride their bike weekly and can ride for at least 4 hours a day. However, this trip is open to anyone. Total cost is $3099.

What’s Included in a Trip with Cycling Croatia

Cycling Croatia’s trip inclusions for the Dalmatian Cycling Tour are fairly typical of what other bicycle travel companies do. If you don’t bring your bike, you can rent a bike from the company. It uses Trek bikes and from $200 up to $450, you can rent a high end road bike, such as a Trek Domane or Trek Emonda.

If visiting Croatia is on your bucket list of destinations and you are a cyclist, Cycling Croatia looks like a good company to work with. Personal attention and excellent cultural immersion mixed with high-caliber food, drink, and accommodations are all bonus reasons to book travel with them.

The company’s prices aren’t bad but a little high for just a 5 day trip as in the example above. Then again, its national park trip is 9 days at $4099, so that seems like a good value. And while other bicycle companies may give you a quick overview during your travels through Croatia, Cycling Croatia promises to take you places not regularly visited by any of them.
